Dolorès Marat was born in Paris on October 26th 1944. She started photography in 1959 in a small shop, where she worked for three years, learning all laboratory techniques. Between 1962 and 1969, Dolorès worked as a a street portraitist and within car races, as well as a stage photographer at the ORTF.
Between 1969 and 1982, she worked as a black & white laboratine for the magazine ‘Votre Beauté’, where she developed and printed the photographs of the biggest of that time (Guy Bourdin, Jeanloup Sieff, Helmut Newton, Sarah Moon…) She became a regular photographer of the magazine from 1983 until 1994.
Since 1983, Dolorès Marat has been building a personal work, that has been shown in Paris, London, New York and Brussels. She is currently working for the press and for regular customers such as Hermès, Weston, or Givenchy.
